Good Day Mrs. Sox-
I just wanted to let you know how much I enjoyed meeting you after the awards ceremony and how much we appreciate you being there to present the award at the East Coast Dragtimes Hall of Fame. When I returned I wanted to learn more about your Foundation and make a donation. Low and behold my donation bought a raffle ticket as well (what an unexpected surprise). Thanks for all you do and know that we all think a lot about you and what you do for drag racing and keeping the memory of Sox and Martin alive! Have a good day!
p.s. hope you are feeling better, too!

Ronnie Sox was my girlfriend's grandfather. Although Ronnie never raised his first born son, my girlfriend's father did meet him a couple years before he died.

My dad was the manager of Cook Chrysler Plymouth in Chicopee, MA. One day he brought me to the shop because, Ronnie Sox and Buddy Martin were going to be there with there race cars. Ronnie told my dad to put me in the car as he pulled it into the garage area. I will never forget that sound. I got an autographed picture and decals which I still have today. Unfortunately, my dad is no longer hear and the dealership is gone too. Now my racing hero is gone also. But they all will be in my memories and heart. Thank you Diane for the web site and returning me back 38 years to the happiest years of my life.

Diane, I just want to thank you, Buddy, and Clark for providing me with one of the most memorable experiences I have had as a fan of drag racing and muscle cars. It was a blast and as I told you I will always remember. I have already taken a picture of you,me and Buddy that a friend took at the starting line and had it enlarged to 8x10. I enjoyed our visit and genuine sharing of personal feelings. Your tribute to Ronnie with starting The Ronnie Sox Foundation will be a lasting legacy. I have mailed you a check for a $500.00 donation in his memory. I wish the best to a "Very Special Lady". Please express my thanks to Buddy and Clark the next time you see them. Sincerely, Jim Thompson

Hello Diane, my name is John Bonick. I would like to write to you today to let you know that your husband is my favorite race driver and always will be. You see, I recently turned 30 years old. I wasn't around during the golden days of Super Stock and the beginning of Pro Stock but boy do I love the history of it. I have been around Drag Racing all of my life. My folks and friends jokingly say that I should have grown up during the sixties! Well, I got the chance to meet Ronnie and yourself a few years back at the York U.S. 30 Muscle Car Madness show. I brought my older brother Joe with me to show him first hand my love for historic drag racing. We had a great time. Sometimes, when a young man meets the person who gives him inspiration to do better (in this case drag racing), he might be a little disappointed. That person may not want to be bothered or may even be a little rude. That was NOT the case with Mr... Sox.

Diane Sox,
Today I got a letter in the mail. Enclosed were 4 tickets for the drawing for the hemi motor in 2009.This has happened many times in the past i'm sure. But the thing that suprised me was the personal touch.
I have been donating to St. Judes for a long time and I hope that it helps a child. For someone to care this much about others is really special to me.
We will probably never meet, but I would like to comend you on two things.
1. For the website to help remember Ronnie Sox
2. For helping people with such an terrible illness
Thank you for your time and I hope everything goes well for you. Taylor Ashley

Thank you for all the wonderful memories. My racing career was in the late 70's with a 409 twin carb, 456 gears, and a 4 speed. This was in my 59 El Camino. I waited for my day of power shifting and when it came I thought of you Boss.
Thank you Boss.

As one of the many members of Port City Mopars, I saw your last race at Rockingham NC. You finished it just like you started it...On top. When I see a Duster or hear a four speed, I remember and that smile that you put on the fans faces returns....
You will be missed "Boss"

Hello Diane,
You have created such a great website honouring Ronnie's incredible life.
My husband, Bill, knows quite a bit of history of the NHRA and had a been a fan of Ronnie's throughout his Sox & Martin career. A few years back I had searched out the site at that time to purchase a Sox & Martin poster as a gift for Bill. I was surprised when I realized I was actually talking to Ronnie himself. We spoke on the phone for about 15 minutes touching on many subjects of racing, etc and somehow the conversation led to his upcoming wedding to his sweetheart, which was you. I was so touched by his love and admiration for you.
The poster arrived signed by The Boss himself.
Diane, I was so pleased to have spoken with this man with a huge heart. He was indeed a well loved person through family, friends and fans.
Prior to me marrying Bill, I had lost my "soul mate" (Jim) to cancer in 1995. I understand the emotions of what you went through but I also learned Jim came in to my life and I into his life for a reason. Through his memory I carry on his life.
Your and Ronnie's reason is to help the people in need. You are an incredible woman to continue his wishes, and legend, through the Ronnie Sox Foundation.
Please take care.
Thank you,
Pat Knecht

Diane,
I watched Ronnie race since high school. I graduated in 1967. I raced locally (Aquasco & Capitol Raceways) & tried unsuccessfully to emulate him with the shifting of 4 speed cars. Man, he shifted quickly! He was the best. I met him in southern Maryland while he was racing his 64 Comet funny car sometime around 1990. I have a Ronnie Sox shirt that he autographed for me that I cherish. He was a very personable man & always had tome to talk to people even while he was trying to tune his car between runs.
I am a Christian & I know that I will see Ronnie in heaven one day! You & your family are in my prayers. I know what it is like to lose a spouse. Let God continue to be your strength as he was, & is mine.
May God bless you & thank you for sharing him with the world!

Dear Diane,
Having grown up in what I consider the best era of drag racing and living close to Atco Dragway, NJ in the '60's I had the wonderful opportunity to watch your husband not only race and win, but to reach through the pit fence to sign a promotional post card to an admiring boy, with 'best wishes'. Ronnie Sox was the greatest in my vision with no one quicker through those gears, my hero.
When I became old enough to drive I drove a 4 speed, '69 Plymouth GTX and even vowed as my '73 high school graduation yearbook aspiration to someday be quicker than Ronnie Sox, knowing all the while that would never come true. I remained interested in cars and racing although knew it was best that I pursue a different career path. I was deeply sadden by his loss actually hearing of same when discussing racing heroes with a mutual admirer at a race event. Although that era has come to pass, there will never be another hero like him in my mind.
Ps. I still have my 1968 race post card, signed 'best wishes' and I wish the same to you.
Sincerely,
Jim Wallace
